I received this in the mail yesterday:

…While we do not believe that we are obligated to provide notice of this data breach to you, we are doing so as a cautionary measure.   …The stolen laptops contained password protected, encrypted data which included your name, home address, phone number, social security number, date of birth, ethnicity and marital status.  If you have utilizied the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in the past, the information contained on the stolen laptops also related to the individual services provided by the EAP, including case notes and assessments, the names of the providers to whom you were referred, and the treatment plans recommended by the providers.  The theft was reported to the police and the company is cooperating fully with their investigation…

To check the DNS on a domiain using a server other than your default DNS server, this command is useful:

dig host.domain.com @4.2.2.1

Thanks Vic.

I [finally] made the jump to the other side.  The D80 is a great camera.  The camera came with the battery grip and 18-200 VR lens.  All I’ll need is a new flash, maybe the SB-900, and the 50mm 1.4.  I will miss the old original Canon Digital Rebel, but it’s time to move forward.    More pictures will be posted soon.

Facebook has a great mirror site for the CentOS ISO’s.

http://mirror.facebook.com/centos/5.5/os/x86_64

Another fast mirror is the USC Linux Users Group Mirror:  http://mirrors.usc.edu/pub/linux/distributions/centos/5.5/

vmcentos

This has been one of the fastest mirrors I have found for CentOS.  It’s nice to see a social networking site giving back to the Linux community.

If you access the Internet through a proxy, then you’re out of luck…  Another option is to create a mirror server on your LAN.

If Gmail stops working with Apple Mail,or other IMAP programs, use the unlock captcha:

https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

This may be a necessary step when configuring a Google Apps account on Mail.app.  I needed to run this because I was frequently switching between different ISP’s without closing my mail program.  The mail error reported there were too many requests for the account, and the Gmail account became unavailable.  You may not need to run the captcha, but it seems to help solve this issue.

Congratulations to Andreas Wacker and Interdubs for passing the 100,000th file mark today!  Interdubs is a collaboration platform which can easily help you keep your clients up to date on the progress of their projects and allow prompt and efficient client feedback.  Interdubs works native with the iPhone, plus it allows you to easily create reels for clients to review.

Keep up the good work Andreas!
